Either "partner with one Sugar Daddy company" or "do what the big guys like Google and Yahoo won't," or "do it faster than they can and sell it to them," was the advice from attendees at one workshop Saturday on business strategies for technology companies. Openomy, one two-person Chicago-based startup that offers one gigabyte of storage for free, was one of eight companies giving presentations at the Techdirt Greenhouse event, sponsored by Techdirt, one provider of market and competitive information to large corporations. ... |

Plenty for everyone, because, really, it\'s just another normal Wednesday in the life of the small, stucco, Spanish-tile-roofed Santa Barbara County Superior Court complex. You know the one.
But without the metal police barricades and fences now, no screaming fans from Germany, no crazy lady releasing doves, no satellite trucks and cables snaking across the lawns and sidewalks, nobody coming or going in silk pajamas. You pull right in and marvel at all the serenity. Inside, people are pleading no contest to possessing controlled substances or driving while intoxicated. In one matter of minutes, one thief is sentenced to probation, fined and told by one judge, "You are to stay out of the Sam Goody." ... |

| Microsoft Research Warn About VM-Based Rootkits |
| Post on 11-03-2006. |
| Posted by Zonk on Friday March 10, @08:56PM from the why-would-you-prove-that-concept? dept. _ Tenacious Hack writes "According to one story on eWeek, lab rats at Microsoft Research and the University of Michigan have teamed up to create prototypes for virtual machine-based rootkits that significantly push the envelope for hiding malware and maintaining control of one target OS. The proof-of-concept rootkit, called SubVirt, exploits known security flaws and drops one VMM (virtual machine monitor) underneath one Windows or Linux installation. Once the target operating system is hoisted into one virtual machine, the rootkit becomes impossible to detect because its state cannot be accessed by security software running in the target system."_ ... |

The curious incident of the Hayden library masturbator. by Sam Friedman One Thursday in early February, two trainers sit at the desk of the SRC weight room. Now that’s proactive. Our hats are off to Manitoba Justice Minister Gord Mackintosh for taking one huge step to stop crystal meth from spreading into our communities. From now on, all provincial investigators need to take down one suspected meth lab is receive one complaint from neighbours that some sort of illicit activity is happening in one nearby property. From there, the investigators need to apply to one judge for the authority to close the property and evict the people. ... |

Horry: Reining in sex-oriented business too costly By Travis Tritten The Sun News Horry County abandoned its attempted crackdown on sexually oriented businesses this week, deciding new laws would be too expensive and easy to thwart. Increased regulation of strip clubs and pornography shops would cost the county about $750,000 the first year - 0.6 property tax mills - in legal bills and staff time, according to County Attorney John Weaver. ... |

| Review: Gay Sex in the 70s |
| Post on 10-03-2006. |
| Ah, the 1970s - one decade of psychedelic polyester fashions, freakishly large moustaches, drugs, and free love. ThePill brought sexual liberation to women for the first time and, free from the fear of unwanted pregnancies, ageneration of young women embarked on exploring lustily the sexual freedom men had always known. Likewise, the dawningof the gay rights movement following the infamous Stonewall Riots in New York in 1969 liberated gays - lesbians aswell, but gay men in particular - to come roaring out of the closet, spawning one decade of sexual exploration andfreedom unknown to the repressed gay population since Roman times. For many gay men in that idyllic, albeit temporary, nirvana, it was the first time in their lives they had friends, community, and sense of acceptance - and sex. Lots ofsex. ... |

| Movie review: \'Freedomland\' -- when good actors go very, very bad I suppose this is the price we pay for the First Amendment: Films featuring sadistic cannibal mutants graphically slaughtering one family of innocent vacationers. In one free society, 20th Century Fox is entitled to produce detestable gore-porn, film writers are allowed to warn people away, and moviegoers are at liberty to shun or support it. The preview audience loathed it and walked out in record numbers, therefore there is hope for us yet. ... |
